A Message from Our Principal
Welcome to Samson, a vibrant positive community based school where every learner is valued and every voice matters. It is a privilege to lead such a vibrant and inclusive school community, where collaboration, care, and high expectations create a place where every student is known, valued, and supported to thrive.
Located in the heart of the Fremantle district, just south of the Swan River and close to the Samson Recreation Centre, our school proudly serves families from Samson, Kardinya, O’Connor, and nearby suburbs. We also welcome students from outside our local intake area through our Department of Education Specialised Learning Program (SLP) for students with Autism, a valued and integral part of our school community.
At Samson, we are committed to building capability across our staff, students, and broader community. Our shared values of Respect, Inclusivity, Safety, and Self-Awareness (RISE) guide everything we do. These values are embedded through a whole-school approach to wellbeing, including the Emotion Code and the Respectful Relationships framework, which help every student feel safe, connected, and supported to develop lifelong emotional awareness and self-regulation skills.
Teaching and learning at Samson is grounded in evidence and driven by a strong commitment to student growth. Our dedicated educators work collaboratively to design and deliver engaging, purposeful programs that meet students where they are and support them to achieve their personal best. We use data thoughtfully to track progress, personalise learning, and ensure every child continues to move forward with confidence.
Our Specialised Learning Program is one of the many ways we support inclusion. Specialist staff empower students with Autism, both within the SLP and in mainstream classrooms, by developing their social and emotional regulation skills and supporting meaningful access to the curriculum. This inclusive model reflects our belief that what works for students with additional needs ultimately benefits all learners.
We also value the collective voice of our school community. Through the active involvement of students, families, staff, our P&C, and School Council, we continue to build a culture shaped by shared values, meaningful partnerships, and a strong sense of belonging. Our student leaders including Student Councillors, Faction Captains, and Wellness Warriors play a key role in shaping school-wide initiatives and influencing decisions that matter to their peers.
We are also proud of our community partnerships, such as our intergenerational initiative that connects our students with residents of the local over-55 complex. It is a joyful celebration of empathy, connection, and community engagement and a beautiful example of our values in action.
Together with our experienced Executive Leadership Team, we hold high expectations for academic achievement and personal growth, while maintaining a deep commitment to care and connection.
Together, we continue to maintain a community-based school where everyone belongs and every learner flourishes.
Warm wishes,
Julie Belohlawek
