Week 5 has been a busy week again for us. It has been nice to see some sunshine this week after some very cold and damp days. The rain is welcome during the night.
Nature Playground
Our SamDads group have erected a fence in the area that they are going to build a fort for the students in the playground. The students are enjoying playing in the water play area. Stay tuned for further updates.
Sick Children
It is very important that students attend school, however if they are sick please keep them snug and warm at home. We are finding that some children are coming to school unwell and unfortunately this means that germs are spread more widely and students take longer to recover. Please keep children home if they are not well in the morning.
LOST PROPERTY
We have had a very cold sometimes wet week, please write your child’s name on all of their clothing, including jumpers. There are many in our clothing items in our lost property box. Also, could you please check that your child is wearing his/her own hat? Don’t forget there are drink bottles, lunch boxes, thongs, shoes etc in the lost property.
THE LOST PROPERTY ITEMS ARE IN THE WOODEN STAND OUTSIDE OF THE LIBRARY IF YOU ARE MISSING ANY CLOTHING etc.
BOOK WEEK 2020 Dress Up
Our Book Week dress up day is on Friday 28th August
All students from Pre-primary to Year 6 come along dressed as a book character from a children’s book. Kindy dress up on the Thursday or Friday and remain in their classes. All children bring along the book that relates to their character. We have a book week parade so that students can see each other. Parents are welcome to attend and dress up. This event may also be celebrated in the class through literacy activities. The parade begins at 9 am on the oval. We are able to social distance in this space. More details will be sent out on Classdojo next week .
Samson Faction Carnival
Due to social distancing requirement remaining in place for a further two months we are unable to run a sports carnival whole day on Friday, 11th September as a whole school day. There are too many parents and not enough space to adequately social distance. The social distancing requirements remain in place for all school events. As the children have practiced hard for the events we are working on an alternative format so the students can participate and parents can watch their children compete. As soon as we have the details of a format developed, I will send out the details on classdojo. We will not cancel the event, rather we will find a way to make it work. However, it will not be a whole school event on the oval with parents and students out participating all day.
The Samson PS cross country and jumps and throws events will follow the same format as previous years. We will be able to determine medal winners and present them to students with the parents attending.
There will be further details soon.
Rhonda Spencer
Principal
We have seen a huge increase in parents using the Direct Deposit option when paying
fees and charges. This is fantastic, thank you. However, it also means that great care needs to be taken to ensure we allocate payments to the correct students. Please ensure you help us by using a clear reference including your child’s name.
For example: “Joe Soap Rm 1 Swimming”. The completed forms and envelopes still need to be returned to the school.

2020 INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL
What an amazing group of athletes that attended the I/S Cross Country at Manning Park on Thursday, 20th August 2020.
The year 6's were amazing, organising warm ups and controlling the students throughout the events.
Samson came 3rd overall from 6 schools.
We had some fantastic place getters, although all athletes deserve a mention as they gave it everything they had.
